Apr 9, 2018He was born March 25, 1933. He worked for the Roanoke Times for 30 years, he played on the first football team at Franklin County High School from 1950-51 and his number was 36. He served in the National Guard 116 Infantry Headquarters CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Tillie Cooper; his wife, Lottie Cooper; daughter, Charlotte Cooper; sister, Ann Lester; and two brothers, Roger Cooper and Jimmie Cooper. He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Pierce (Jimmy); son, Joey Cooper; grandson, Zack Pierce; brother, Kenny Cooper; as well as brother and sister in-laws; nieces and nephews. Left to cherish many good years and memories is his friend, companion, and caregiver of many years, Elizabeth (Liz) Blankenship; her children and grandchildren who he was a dad and a grandfather to, Donna Hodges, Keith Blankenship (Debbie), Taw Hodges (Stephanie); and their children Clayton and Alison, Samantha Sutphin (John) and child Cash. Funeral Services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel, 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org in memory of Ronnie Cooper. Special thanks go out to Dr. Maxey and all the doctors and nurses at Carilion and Lewis Gale for their special care.
